We operate from the north London district of Canonbury. The district is part of the London Borough of Islington and is classified as a residential district. Despite being a residential area, Canonbury has its own retail area where several independent shops, public houses and galleries are situated. The district is also home to several prominent landmarks such as the 16th century Canonbury Tower, Canonbury Square, Canonbury Grove, the New River Walk and the Ettrick Collection of Modern Italian Art.
Canonbury follows a classic curve of development, common to many other London suburbs. Prior to the 19th century, the district remained mostly undeveloped (open lands, not much infrastructure). The arrival of the railways livened things up at the start but eventually led to decline (like much of Inner London at the time) as people were commuting to the City from further out. Major regeneration in Canonbury took place in the 1950s.
