Oh, well, summer is knocking on the door, and if you think that spending it in London might be a bad idea, you are wrong!
If you have just moved your house and your budget is dry (meaning you can’t afford a summer vacation) or you are looking for a way to distress from the whole endeavor while the man and van specialists are finishing your relocation, the abundance of summer festivals organized on the territory of London will provide you with a lot of alternatives.
London is the summer is the best London in our opinion, because you can feel to the fullest how diverse and cosmopolitan the city is. Let’s have a look at some of the most interesting events you can visit:
- Field Day is held on June 6 and 7 and is the best place to be if you are a fan of alternative, folk and indie music acts. This year the festival hosts performances by Caribou, Patti Smith, Django Django and Chet Faker.
- Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time, Hyde Park – 18 to 27 June, which is definitely the ultimate music festival this summer. Taylor Swift’s concert is already sold out, but this might not a problem for you, bearing in mind the fact that the real headliners are Kylie Minogue, Blur, The Strokes and The Who. The best part? Well, it is all taking place under the London sky in one of the most emblematic open green spaces in the capital – Hyde Park.
- Moving away from music, we cannot miss to mention the Taste of London Festival, which you will have the chance to enjoy between 17 and 21 June. It is the definitive food festival in the capital this year, and includes live demonstrations and master classes, tastings and much more.
- The Camden Fringe Festival has become one of the most anticipated annual events in the capital for the past decade. This year it is going to be held between 3rd and 30 August. For nearly a full month Camden is going to become one of the weirdest places in London thanks to the thought provoking comedy-theatre and strange acts that are going to be performed as a part of the festival. If you want to support local arts and works by true enthusiasts in their fields, or you just want to experience something new and interesting, come to Camden in August.
- City of London festival will be the last to bring to your attention here. It is between 22 June and 10 July. The festival includes theatre performances, art exhibits, music and much more. What is so great about City of London Festival is that it is held in some of the most iconic buildings in the capital – from ancient pubs to the St. Paul’s Cathedral itself.
These are of course only a few suggestions. London in the summer has so much more to offer to you. All you have to do is look up what’s going on this season in the capital.
